Synopsis: After his parents' death, Tom lives with his aunt who works as a seamstress to support the family. One day, Tom accidentally damages his aunt's sewing machine. During one of their nocturnal escapades, Tom and his best friend Huck witness a murder. The murderer is a notorious crook. Fearing his revenge, the two boys vow to remain silent. But Tom's conscience is not at ease as an innocent man is blamed for the murder. Tom is also devastated because he's incapable of fixing the sewing machine, causing turmoil at home. So Tom comes up with an idea: he believes he can trick the crook in order to obtain the money to buy a new machine. Together with his friend Huck and Biggie, the daughter of the city's new judge, Tom embarks on a dangerous adventure. Will the children succeed in outwitting the villain?

Norbert Lechner: Norbert Lechner (1961) is a German screenwriter and director. He graduated in literature, philosophy, and art history the University of Munich. He's worked on the production of films and TV screenwriting and has also shot documentaries. He made his debut with the feature-length drama Wounded Faces (1991). His other family film, The Boy Who Looks for Gold (Toni goldwascher, 2007), did well at many festivals. Among his most recent directorial works Tom and Hacke (Tom und Hacke, 2012).
